Race 4
#1. Strathay @ $6.50 – Hit the line hard last start and drops back sharply in grade here. Draws ideal, gets Nash, and the 1800m looks perfect.
#11. Sevens @ $3.90 – Dominant first up win and finished strong last start. Step up to the 1800m looks ideal and gets in with 51kgs here.
Race 5
#1. Romeo’s Choice @ $14 / 3.60 – Two good wins to start this prep before being only fair last start in tougher grade than this. Draws well, gets 3kg off, and just looks over the odds for a good EW bet.
Flemington
Race 1
#10. She’s An Artist @ $2 – Talented mare who has been flying in much harder races than this her past two starts. Drops back to a bm78 here, and think only bad luck beats her.
Race 3
#1. Vinrock @ $3.20 – Last start was just too bad to be true but will relish the step up to the 1400m here. Love that Zahra takes over the ride, and just needs to overcome the wide draw to go close.
Race 6
#11. Royal Insignia @ $5 – Solid first up run to suggest he’s come back well, and just think he didn’t quite get through the ground last start. Gets back to a firm deck today, and will only carry the 53kgs.
Race 9
#3. Lazzura @ $2.60 – Huge win last start, and always respect the Sydney form when coming down to Melbourne. Maps for a lovely run with Jmac on board and is the one they have to beat.
Doomben
Race 1
#3. Alectrona @ $2.10 – Racing well this prep without getting the chocolates. Last start run was excellent, and will be rock hard fit here against weaker rivals.
Race 6
#5. Pannier @ $3 – Hard to tip against a horse that won by over 9L last start. Does meet a tougher field here, but maps for the gun run from barrier 1 and presents the key danger to the fav.
Race 8
#1. Ducasse @ $3.50 – Would expect the jockey to sit much closer here today, and the step up to the 1600m suits perfectly. Did go down to Bullion Boy last start, but meets him 5kg better at the weights today.
Morphettville
Race 3
#8. Snow Mercy @ $3 – Gave them too much of a start last start from the wide gate. Draws barrier 4 today so expect them to sit much closer and have every possible.
Race 5
#1. Mesrour @ $6 – Looks extremely well placed today and the $6 looks an absolute gift. Typically runs well fresh and if he’s at his best, he should be winning this.
Race 7
#10. Shadow Eagle @ $6 – Looks to be a bit of pace here, so expect them to sit just stalk the lead and get a good crack at them. Think the drop back to the 1100m will be good for this horse.
