Race 5
#4. Monte Veebee @ $2.50 – Looks one of the two key chances in the market. Was seriously impressive first-up for the Baker stable and he’s got upside. The little knock is back to 1200m, but he still profiles as the progressive one. Should take beating.
Race 7
#18. Profitabelle @ $13 – Plenty happening here in a big field but thought she looked a touch over the odds here. Right in the mix at $13, just needs a touch of luck from the gate.
Caulfield
Race 1
#3. Ambassadorial @ $1.90 – There doesn’t look much pressure so can take control of this. Last start at Flemington was forced wide early, then got shifted off the track and still only went down narrowly. 2000m looks good.
Race 4
#3. Streisand @ $3.20 – She was charging late in the Preview and her last 200m was the best of the whole meeting. She only had the one jump-out going into that run, so she should strip fitter now. Tongue tie on and extra 100m suits.
Race 8
#12. Balance @ $9 / $2.40 – She’s looked outstanding in the jump-outs and can win here first up. McDonald’s shown he can produce them to fire on debut, and she’s trialled as well as any of those.
Race 9
#5. Rise At Dawn @ $3.40 – Tempo should be genuine with him and Regal Zeus rolling along. He goes well fresh, draws nicely, and he’s trialled up in good order.
Race 10
#1. Verdad @ $16 / $3.90 – Been a while between drinks but this is the easiest race he’s contested in some time. Will need some luck from the wide draw but thought he was an easy EW play.
Morphettville
Race 2
#2. Intellectual @ $2.40 – Made a big statement on debut beating Snow Mercy, who’s since gone on to win stakes grade. Soft trial coming in and looks set to go well fresh.
Race 7
#3. Komachi @ $5 – Last week’s Strathalbyn Cup run had merit over 2050m, especially off a five-week gap between runs. He should be fitter for that and his numbers on the quick back up are strong.
Race 9
#3. Daisydoo @ $2.70 – She hasn’t won this prep but she’s flying. Keeps finding the line and the form is good enough given she’s been competitive in slightly harder races than this.
Doomben
Race 2
#4. The Stars @ $4.20 – Fresh run was excellent because she was given no hope from the back. Will take improvement from that run and if she can land just in front of midfield, she’ll be the one launching late.
Race 6
#7. Ramp It Up @ $7.50 – He’s the best horse in the race, but he’s not allowed to be ridden like a passenger. 1350m isn’t ideal and needs a bit to go his way but can certainly win this.
