Canterbury
Race 2
#6. Straight Sets @ $2.80 – A few really nice first starters in this race but just can’t go past Straight Sets. Loved the trials leading into this and think this horse has a fair bit of ability. Should go forward from barrier 3 and be hard to catch.
Race 6
#10. Harry’s Bar @ $4 – Great return to racing last start and drops back from the Saturday’s to midweek grade here. Will take a lot of improvement from that run and the 1200m suits. Can lead this field from barrier 2 and give a sight.
Sandown
Race 2
#7. Knobelas @ $2.70 – Dominant last start win albeit in maiden grade, but SP profile suggests this horse has good ability. Maps for the perfect run here just off the pace and have every possible.
Race 7
#9. The Shaper @ $6 – Drops back in grade here and think the step back to the 1300m really suits this horse. Draws wide but expect him to be back in the field anyway. Huge jockey upgrade from Keane to Williams.
Race 9
#9. Ruakaka Raider @ $7 – The form guide will show this horse hasn’t been running well but these have been in MUCH harder races than this. Another one who I think will appreciate the step back in distance and who will benefit from Williams taking the ride.
