Tricky day of racing with Sydney still wet, but have found some solid bets. Bets and prices posted at 7:00AM 28 May.
Canterbury
Race 1
#11. Swordplay @ $3 – Plenty of chances here with multiple first starters, but loved the trials of this horse leading into this. Would expect the wet to be no issue based on the breeding, and think King might push the button from barrier 9 to lead this field and be hard to run down.
Race 5
#7. Hell To Pay @ $2.60 – Becoming a frustrating horse with only the one win from 9 starts, but has placed in 7 other outings and think this is just the perfect race. Wet track no issue, gets in well at the weights, and not a hell of a lot of opposition here.
Gawler
Race 2
#7. Mister Hockey @ $1.80 – Running well in his first preparation and love the step back to the 1200m here. Like that Jake takes back the ride, and barrier 1 looks great for a horse who will be up on speed. If he can find luck in run, should be in the finish.
Race 4
#3. Ali Foreman @ $2.70 – Fourth start first prep isn’t always ideal, but will be peak fitness here at the step up to the 1500m. Form out of his last run looks good, and maps for an excellent run in transit from barrier 4.
