Collingwood spent 2024 staggering around like a bloke trying to find his Uber at 4 a.m. after a premiership bender. They went from kings of the AFL to also-rans in a matter of months, crashing out of finals contention and making every Collingwood hater’s year in the process.
Now, they reckon they’re “nice and hungry” again. Bobby Hill says, “It hurts,” and that the team is ready to bring back the chaos footy that won them the flag in 2023. That’s great, but talk is cheap.
To be fair, they’ve made some moves. Dan Houston is a gun, and Tim Membrey is… well, a bloke who exists. If Craig McRae can get them moving at top speed again, they’ll be a nightmare to stop.
Collingwood are either going to storm back into premiership contention, or they’ll be another episode of “The Year After”—a club that thought it could just waltz into September without actually earning it. Pies fans better hope they’re back to being the hunters, not the hungover.
