I’m sick of these weekly briefings with Graham Annesley.
It’s just blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And follows the same script every time. Discusses key incidents, backs the referees, and holds zero accountability.
It’s almost like he holds these briefings for the sake of hearing his own voice.
And yesterdays was no difference.
When speaking about Klein’s forward pass call in the Panthers v Roosters clash…what did he have to say?
He said “it’s not clearly a forward pass” and “can argue that it’s not a forward pass”, but Klein made an “instinctive decision” and we ultimately need to trust it.
WHY NOT JUST SAY HE MADE THE WRONG CALL!?
Why not say he got that wrong, and hold some accountability over him like everyone else receives in every profession across the world?
I mean, if an NRL player has a shocker it’s talked about everywhere. And the coach will have a conversation with the player about their performance, and they will address it.
So why don’t we have the same standards for referees? I don’t understand it.
If referees, or the Bunker, keep making these shocking decisions without consequence, why would things ever change? It’s simple psychology really.
At this stage, Ashley Klein could run out on the field naked and give a nazi salute and Graham Annesley would say he made the right call.
Enough is enough.
