The Champions League semi-finals are here and the excitement is real. Four teams remain—Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Inter Milan—and they’re each just two matches away from Munich, from the final, from the moment they’ve all been chasing since August.
For Arsenal, this is the culmination of years of progress. After previous setbacks in Europe, they finally look like a side ready to compete at the very top. Arteta’s team has grown match by match, and their dominant performances against Real Madrid home and away were no accident. Ødegaard is leading with real authority, while Saka, Rice, and Martinelli are delivering with confidence and class. But this is uncharted territory for much of the squad. Their fearlessness could be their strength—or their undoing.
Their opponents, PSG, are still chasing a trophy that continues to elude them. They’ve taken down Liverpool and Aston Villa to get here, showing an ability to find a way to win tough games. But history hangs over them – you never quite know if PSG will step up or fall short when it matters most.
Barcelona, under Hansi Flick, are starting to feel like the club they used to be. Their young core, lead by Yamal and Cubarsi, aren’t just talented – they are generational players. While many of the big names of past triumphs are gone, this club knows how to win, and know how to win this trophy in particular. Their youth could light up this stage, just as Yamal did at the Euros.
Inter Milan are perhaps the most dangerous team left. After losing the final to Man City in 2023, they’ve returned sharper and more ruthless. Lautaro and Thuram are one of the most consistent strike partnerships in Europe, and Simone Inzaghi’s side doesn’t rely on hype, they rely on getting the job done. They’re efficient, experienced, and hard to break down. That alone makes them a serious threat.
These aren’t just semi-finals—they’re career-defining matches. For the players, the managers, and the fans, this is where history is written. All four clubs have a real shot. And for those of us watching with everything on the line, it’s torture and joy all at once.
Let’s just hope Arsenal make it all the way.
