Broncos 42 – Bulldogs 18
Wow, just wow, what a performance from the Broncos. I had big question marks on the Broncos leading into this week after their average performances over the last few weeks, but didn’t they bounce back in huge fashion. The bulldogs made a mistake in the first set and they just never got back into it.
The Broncos were phenomenal in the first half and it was lead by their maestro halfback Adam Reynolds, he had it on an absolute string setting up three first half tries and scoring one of his own, not to mention a 40/20 for the icing on the cake for a 10/10 half of footy.
They took the foot of the pedal in the second half and let the bulldogs into it to some regard, but the job was done in the first half. You could say this every week but honestly Payne Haas is super human with another game of over 250m, 5 tackle breaks, 5 offloads and 32 tackles with 0 misses and a silky try assist from one of his offloads.
The Bulldogs just weren’t the Bulldogs we’ve come to know for the last 18 months, uncharacteristic penalties, errors and poor defence. Obviously the sin bins to Josh Curran and Sitili Tupouniua in the first half didn’t help but they were completely out classed in every facet of the game.
They fought back in the second half and showed some of that bulldogs DNA, winning the second half 18-8 but it’s a game they’ll be looking to brush off quickly. Regardless, it’s a real eye opener for where they actually are in this competition.
