The St. George Illawarra Dragons are poised to determine the future of prop Francis Molo during a board meeting scheduled for Thursday. The 30-year-old has been absent from training for the past two weeks and has reportedly indicated to those close to him that he has played his final game for the club.
Initially projected as a starting prop for Round 1, Molo’s unexpected absence has cast doubt on his participation with the Dragons for the 2025 season. The club has granted him leave and is currently evaluating their options. According to CODE Sports, Molo is expected to meet with the board, accompanied by his agent and a representative from the Rugby League Players Association.
In response to the potential gap in their forward pack, the Dragons have recently signed 27-year-old Emre Guler from the Canberra Raiders. Guler commenced training with the team in Wollongong earlier this week.
Should Molo depart, the Dragons may seek to recruit another prop to complete their top 30 roster. His decision to leave is unexpected, especially given his previous positive relationship with coach Shane Flanagan.
