Dylan Brown has just orchestrated one of the greatest burglaries of all time by signing a 10-year, $13 million contract with the Newcastle Knights starting in 2026.
I mean, how could anyone—and I’m looking at you, Parramatta fans—begrudge him for taking this deal? It’s a no-brainer, and he’s basically set for life. But the bigger question is: What are the Knights thinking? Did they miss every Parramatta game in 2024 with Brown trying to steer the ship? Don’t get me wrong, Dylan Brown is a fantastic player… as long as Mitchell Moses is there to do all the heavy lifting. You know, like kicking, guiding the team, calling set plays, and basically doing everything a halfback is supposed to do.
It’s like watching someone trying to drive a car with no wheels. Sure, they’re in the driver’s seat, but good luck getting anywhere.
You can always count on three things in life: Death, Taxes, and NRL clubs mismanaging their salary caps. And now, the Knights are setting themselves up for a decade of underachievement. They’ve just signed a 5/8 who has, let’s be honest, shown he can’t play halfback to play halfback—for $1.3 million a year. What could possibly go wrong?
If I were Parramatta, I’d be sending Dylan Brown up the freeway to Newcastle tomorrow, as this season is already a write-off. If yesterday’s performance is any indication, it’s going to be a long year. But on the bright side, 2026 can’t come soon enough for Parramatta fans!
