Titans vs Cowboys – Cbus Super Stadium
Both these sides were given a belting last week but the Cowboys defeat entered the record books. One wonders what a result like that can do to a side’s confidence. The Cowboys will need to bounce back quickly but are still missing Mahoney to help their middle defence and Nanai is also out of this one. Titans also have some injuries of their own but have less pressure. I think this game could be very tight and I lean to the Titans.

Warriors vs Panthers – Go Media Stadium
This match up is one of the most anticipated of the round. Both sides are coming off impressive victories. Penrith usually beat the Warriors but this will be at a packed stadium with a vocal home crowd where the points are less likely to be so free flowing. It’s difficult to pick a winner here but the Warriors defence, especially at home has been the cornerstone of their successful season so far and I think they can limit the Panthers opportunites while the Panthers won’t give much away themselves.

Roosters vs Bulldogs – Allianz Stadium
Another match up which will be receiving plenty of attention this week. The Roosters win last week put the entire competition on notice while the Bulldogs appear to have re-discovered some of the form that saw them leading the comp midway through last season. This will be the ultimate test for the Bulldogs and it’s going to take a big effort from them to be victorious. The +8.5 line is somewhat tempting but given how impressive the Roosters were last week it’s too hard to bet against them.

Storm vs Sea Eagles – HBF Park
The Storm are only a methematical chance now of making tje finals while Manly can hardly afford to frop another match if they want to feature in September. With this match being played in Perth one could argue Manly have an advantage coming off a bye. However, their form has been so poor that it’s difficult to take them as favourites. Melbourne performed well despite losing last round considering they were missing 3 of their 4 starting spine. They get Munster back for this and Howarth also returns. Nick Meaney and Tyran Wishart will join Perth Bears next year so could have some added incentive to make an impression in this fixture. Rather than taking a side to win, the value seems to lie in Tyran Wishart to find the chalk and a Same Game Multi with Nick Meaney could also prove lucrative as a speculative punt.

Dolphins vs Broncos – Suncorp Stadium
A QLD derby might be enough to spark Brisbane into action but given what they’ve dished up for the last 3-4 months it would be a brave man to back them. The Dolphins navigated their way to a win last week but it was far from impressive and they haven’t been at their best since Katoa got injured around 6 weeks ago.This will be his 2nd game since returning so I think Dolphins might start to click into gear. In saying that, derby matches such as these can be unpredictable and I think this might be one to avoid from a betting perspective.

Rabbitohs vs Eels – Allianz Stadium
Souths get a lot of troops back for this one and it really is a must win game if they want to feature in the finals. Parramatta are far from convincing, especially away from Commbank. One would expect Souths to fire up in this one and get the much needed victory they crave but that line has started to creep out and is now in double figures. Rabbitohs should have enough to win by two converted tries or more but it isn’t an instant bet at -10.5. The disciplined play is to exercise some caution and stay away.

Raiders vs Knights – GIO Stadium
This is another crucial game in the lead up to the finals but especially for Canberra. Any loss and Canberra’s season is effectively over. The way Newcastle are able to cover the two key injuries to Dylan Brown and Dylan Lucas gives me confidence that they can feature in September. Last round’s win v Brisbane was impressive without them. It’s another tough road trip that feels like a coin flip game and that’s pretty much what the market suggests too. Usually one could look to take the total overs in this one given the attacking strength of both sides but with the possibility of rain there is too much risk in this option. This seems like another one to avoid from a betting perspective.

Dragons vs Sharks – St George Venues Jubilee Stadium
This game looks like a mismatch given both sides are at opposite ends of the table but in a derby game one can not rely as heavily on tbe form guide. At their best the Dragons can be competitive defensively but it’s hard to see them having enough points in them to trouble the Sharks. The Sharks -15.5 option is tempting based on Cronulla’s blistering attack of late but with the threat of rain around on Sunday afternoon there isn’t enough value there.
