Our NRL betting tips for Round 6 cover every game with best bets, totals and predictions across the full weekend schedule.
Bulldogs vs Panthers – Accor Stadium
Penrith have been on fire to start the season with their smallest margin of victory being 20 so far. However, this line is approaching 3 converted tries which is too much to take for the minus. It’s worth noting that Penrith have done their best work in the first half this season. The shortest margin they’ve been leading by at halftime has been 18 so far so based on this it seems more logical to back the Penrith first half line/ margin, especially considering Penrith were leading 36-8 at halftime the last time these two teams met in the finals last season.
Suggested Bets: Penrith 1st half handicap -8.5 @ $1.94 AND Penrith 13+ 1st half Margin II @ $2.90 (neds)
Dragons vs Sea Eagles – WIN Stadium
This is probably Shane Flanagan’s last chance to save his job. The Dragons put in their worst display of the season last week while Manly had a breakout win but I can’t help thinking the market has overreacted to last week. Had last week never happened Dragons may well have been slight favourites in this one. The events of one week should not change the handicap up to 10 points. This game seems much closer than the market suggests.
Suggested Bet: Dragons +8.5 @ $1.90 (neds)
Broncos vs Cowboys – Suncorp Stadium
Both these teams lost their first two matches but are now on 3 game winning streaks so this should be a high quality game. Brisbane have lost a lot of troops for this one but have relied on their defence in the last 3 weeks to get them through games and then have the many attacking weapons at their disposal finish the opposition off. I think their depth will be tested again and it’s hard to pick a winner either way. However, I would expect this game to be a close hard fought contest and like Either team to win by less than 2 converted tries.
Suggested Bet: Tribet Either team to win by less than 12.5 points @ $1.72 (neds)
Rabbitohs vs Raiders – Optus Stadium
Souths v Canberra is the first match to be played in Perth this round and both teams’ fortunes have been quite different to start the year. The Rabbitohs haven’t needed to be overly impressive this season but still find themselves in 4th place while the Raiders are down in 16th and struggling for cohesion. The Rabbitohs have an extra 2 days rest going into this one which should make a difference but part of me expects the Raiders to have a bounce back game soon. The market looks about right in this one.
Suggested Bet: No bet.
Sharks vs Roosters – Optus Stadium
The Sharks were impressive last week in dismantling the Warriors while the Roosters had the bye. It means the Sharks are going to Perth off a 6 day turnaround while the Roosters have much longer to prepare. The week off also allowed time for the Rooster to get Leniu and Radley back from injury. That should hold the Roosters in good stead here.
Suggested Bet: Roosters -1.5 @ $1.90 (neds)
Storm vs Warriors – AAMI Park
Melbourne v Warriors is one where both these sides have dropped off in recent weeks after hitting the ground running early in the season. It’s hard to bet against Melbourne coming off 3 losses on the trot but the market has them favoured considerably too. There doesn’t appear to be much value in this one.
Suggested Bet: No bet.
Eels vs Titans – CommBank Stadium
A number of injuries for Parramatta here. It’s always hard to be too confident in the Titans though, especially with this one being at CommBank. After reviewing the tryscoring odds one stood out. Parramatta have conceded 5 tries to fullbacks in the first 5 rounds and Keano Kini has not got off the mark yet this season. He seems value at 3.10 to get off the mark in this one.
Suggested Bet: Â Keano Kini ATS @ $3.10 (neds)
Wests Tigers vs Knights – Campbelltown Sports Stadium
Wests Tigers v Newcastle is a top 4 clash. Who would have thought? Both these sides deserve their lofty positions on the ladder, especially with some key players injured. Newcastle lost another key player in Bradman Best for this one and are already without Ponga and Dylan Brown. Tigers are still without Jahrome Luai but have most of their other key players available. This match is at Campbelltown where the Tigers haven’t had a great recent record but the way the Tigers are travelling and given the injuries to Newcastle’s strike players that could well change here
Suggested Bet: Tigers -3.5 @ 1.90 (neds)
MULTI OF THE ROUND
Tom Trbojevic ATS / Latrell Mitchell ATS / Keano Kini ATS @ $11.24 (neds)
