Paul Gallen and Sonny Bill Williams are finally looking to face each other in the boxing ring, and if it was 2017, I’d be half tempted to watch it for a few rounds before turning it off.
“Hey, let’s go down to the pub to watch the fight, it’s going to be awesome!” … Said no one ever.
Unfortunately, for the regular folks, there’s currently a market for old, retired athletes getting into the boxing ring. Thanks for that, Jake Paul. Maybe the winner of this fight will lock in a match with Jake Paul? Although, they might be too young for that.
Paul Gallen, with a record of 15-2-1, and Sonny Bill Williams, with a record of 9-1, have both been inactive since November 2022, which just screams “boxing classic,” right? We can only hope there are a few up-and-coming young boxers who get a chance to show their skills on the undercard.
At the end of the day, good luck to them—I’m sure they’ll make plenty of cash. It’ll be a nice little retirement fund for them, not that they need it. But yeah, I’ll pass on watching. I’ll just be over here, not staring at two blokes who can barely remember where they left their car keys, let alone land a punch.
