Knights 8 – Roosters 12
Insomnia sufferers are rejoicing right now, sound asleep after watching an absolute poo-slinger in the Hunter tonight.
The Roosters played so badly in the first half; they couldn’t hold the ball, and they’re lucky they were up against what was basically a NSW Cup Knights side. They would’ve been down by 30 points at half-time against anyone else. To their credit, they turned it around in the second half, completing 18 out of 20 sets. With the rain pouring down, they managed to get it done, led by James Tedesco, who set up both tries. Not to mention his 243 running metres, 5 tackle busts, 2 offloads, and a line break assist, just a standard day at the office for Teddy.
Billy Smith was seriously impressive tonight. His defence on Dane Gagai all night was elite, one of the few highlights of the Roosters’ performance. The highlight of the night was easily Salesi Foketi’s sidestep on Fletcher Hunt! The skill modern-day forwards have is incredible.

Overall, I think Adam O’Brien and Knights fans should be quite happy with that performance. They had enough ball to win the game; they just lacked a bit of polish in the attacking 20, which is understandable given the cattle they had on the sideline.
I’ve got no idea what goes on behind the scenes, but Jackson Hastings must’ve murdered someone that no one knows about, because he is Newcastle’s best half, and he made them a far better and more organised side tonight. If O’Brien is fair dinkum, Hastings needs to be the halfback going forward alongside Fletcher Sharpe.
