Moonee Valley
Race 7
#7. She’s Bulletproof @ $5.50 – Started shorter than Jimmysstar in the lead up and hopefully, pushes up from barrier 8 and is ahead of Jimmysstar on the turn. Always well found, loves 1200m and will be right in it.
#9. Arabian Summer @ $12 – Looks the value in the race after being wide but sticking on in the lead up, at a similar price behind Jimmystar. Lightly raced filly with plenty of upside and will push forward from barrier 7. Step up to 1200m is the concern however Moonee Valley looks ideal.
Rosehill
Race 6
#2. Goldrush Guru @ $5.50 – Distance concerns around Broadsiding leave me looking for a horse that can stay. Goldrush Guru was the champion 3YO stayer in the spring and looks to have returned well, clocking the fastest L200 of the Guineas. Broadsiding will be tough to beat but if there are any chinks, this horse will be right there.
Race 7
#10. Fangirl @ $3.30 – Question marks around Ceowulf’s prep allow me to bring this horse in quite short. Finished just off Via Sistina last start which is good enough to win this.
#4. Buckeroo – $23 – Failed to stay in the cup, which makes me think this prep will be restricted to 1500m-2000m. Has won fresh in Ireland over 1600m and rattled home in last trial. Gets a suck run from barrier 1 and is great value.
Race 8
#8. Wodeton @ $5.50 – In recent Slipper years, I have looked for horses with a dominant win (3L+) at some stage in their form. Trainers will see they have a horse, put them away and tick them over till the big day. This looks the set up for fav Wodeton. Throw JMac on and barrier 2 and you have the recipe for a winner.
#7. Skyhook should run well on the 7-day back up. Best roughies in the race are #3. North England and #10. Quietly Arrogant.
Race 9
#14. Commemorative @ $6.50 – Fav Private Harry has synthetic hoof filler first time so will steer clear of it. Would be more keen if this was 1200m but a good pace should still set this up for Commemorative. Dominant winner at Randwick last start and should get a nice suck from barrier 2.
Best roughies in the race are #8. Front Page, #12. Eagle Nest and #15e. Time to Boogie, if it gets a start.
Race 10
#7. Outback Miss @ $2.95 – BEST BET of the day after a luckless last start. Was slowly away and held up in the straight but still finished close behind Commemorative. If it jumps here, this lightly raced 4YO mare could put a gap on them.
