Manly are a dreadful footy side, and there’s no reason for them to be. What on earth is going on with them?
They boast class, skill, and attacking weapons across the park, yet right now they look like the worst side in the competition. They’ve always been an inconsistent team, great one week and average the next, but at the moment, they’re shithouse every week.
In the past month, they’ve lost to the Eels, the Knights, and now the Titans — the bottom three sides. The only team they’ve beaten is the Broncos, which shows just how badly Brisbane were going at the time. Last night, Manly weren’t even Origin-affected! How often can they say that during an Origin period? Last night’s performance was nothing short of embarrassing.

I wish I could upload replays of nearly every Titans try because they would highlight the lack of effort shown by Ben Trbojevic, which sums up where Manly are at right now. They’re not putting in for one another, not putting in for the fans, and definitely not putting in for the coach.
Anthony Seibold is lucky Adam O’Brien and Des Hasler exist, because he’s been flying under the radar and hasn’t copped even half the criticism he deserves. But surely that’s over now — the pitchforks should be well and truly out for him to be sacked. He took the Broncos backwards, and now he’s doing the same with Manly. He’s simply not good enough to be an NRL coach.
After making the preliminary final in 2021, a lot of people backed this squad to win a comp – they had the roster to do it. But that belief has dwindled into the abyss, and it’s time for a rebuild. If it were up to me, I’d be giving Tommy Turbo the rest of the year to prove he can get back to his best, or I’d be putting all my eggs in the Lehi Hopoate and Toluta’u Koula basket. Their forward pack needs some young and hungry middle forwards, and they desperately need to find some grit and mental toughness across the park. Most importantly, they need a new coach to take them forward.
Their season has gone to shit ever since DCE dropped the news he was leaving and his form has gone to shit with it. I think he owes this fan base to turn it around and start leading by example with some good performances and getting some wins on the board. However, it’s only going to get harder to pull themselves out of this hole with the injury to Haumole Olakau’atu last night. Going to be interesting to see how they handle the second half of the season.
