The biggest story of the week is that Wests Tigers’ five-eighth has told the club he won’t be renewing his contract and is moving on – something that hundreds of players have done before, including several in his current side – yet he’s being shunned and made out to be the worst person in the world. Quite frankly, it’s laughable.
Api Koroisau, the Wests Tigers’ current captain, was literally on stage at the grand final celebrations with Penrith cracking jokes about having to go to the Tigers. Jarome Luai, who posts on social media saying “team first” – does he forget he left Penrith for one of the richest deals the NRL has seen? He also has a clause to get out of his current contract. Doesn’t seem like a very “team first” attitude to me. Why are players who have done the exact same thing hating on a young kid who’s just making the decision that’s best for him?
And don’t even get me started on Sunia Turuva, who honestly posted one of the most embarrassing and childish social media posts I’ve ever seen. He was linked to about five clubs last year and ended up taking a better deal. What a deadset goose.
The hypocrisy in this current Tigers side is wild – not to mention childish – and it makes you wonder if the signings the Tigers have made have improved the culture that’s already been questioned in previous years, or in fact made it much worse. Because the treatment of Lachlan Galvin is pretty close to high school bully vibes.
Every player is allowed to make a decision that’s best for them, and hopefully for Lachlan Galvin, that means lining up in a Parramatta Eels jersey in the near future (please God, let it be so).

Agree to all of this!! Galvin would also be the enemy if he led the tigers on for a year or two. Being up front is the best thing he could have done in my eyes.
It has nothing to do with his decision to leave and everything to do with throwing his coach under a bus on his way out. What experience does he have with first grade coaches to deem Benji so poor? He’s on record saying how Benji can step in during training and literally still show them all how it’s done. I don’t blame Galvin at all, but the way his management have gone about this has been abrasive and this is the unfortunate result. No irony that the author is a Parra supporter – no conflict of interest whatsoever.
I am in complete agreeance that it could of been handled better by himself and his management has a lot to answer for, but all those things can be true as well as these Tigers players carrying on like pork chops to be honest which i have a problem with. It’s absolute carnage all round.
Nice article. I have been waiting for someone in the media to call out the hypocrisy!!!
