NRL Round 12 SuperCoach: Buy - Hold - Sell
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Round 12 is here, so lets take a look at popular buys and sells across the Origin effected bye rounds.

Buy

James Tedesco
Looks to be a must have in the fullback position, averaging a whopping 89 across the opening rounds. One of the only truly fixture proof backs in the comp and is a consideration to captain most weeks. Covers all 3 major bye rounds, however Roosters are quite popular in Supercoach this year so be careful you don’t own too many. They miss both Rounds 14 & 17 which will be tricky to cover if you are too Roosters heavy,.

Addin Fonua-Blake
Is always a chance of attacking stats due to the lines he runs, and comes up against a very, very, very understrength Roosters pack this week. I am expecting the Sharks to dominate in the forwards, with AFB leading the charge. Covers the first two major bye rounds so is a smart purchase this week, though does miss Round 13.

Herbie Farnworth
One of my favourite players—and one of my favourite SuperCoach players too. He’s a must-have during the bye period and someone you can confidently sit back and watch rack up points week in and week out. Boasting huge base power stats, he hasn’t scored under 50 all season, which is incredible for a non-goal-kicking CTW. Added bonus, he covers the first two major bye rounds (12 & 15)

Fletcher Sharpe
He’s a bona fide weapon—just makes things happen. Has also been named at Fullback with Ponga missing games due to origin selection and covers the first two major bye rounds.

Joseph Tapine
It’s the year of the FRF in 2025. In years gone by, it was the position no one wanted to touch—now I want as many as I can get. Tapine is averaging 79.1, has massive base stats, can find the try-line, and plays two of the three big bye rounds. Love him as a buy this week.

Mark Nawaqanitawase
Covers all 3 major bye rounds and is just a fantastic athlete. I am a big fan of his and think this ability translates well to Supercoach scoring. Averaging a whopping 73 now, he is shaping to be a keeper in the CTW period. As with Tedesco though, make sure you don’t have too many Roosters in your side come Round 14.

Kayal Iro
Has a super fixture this week against a massively understrength Roosters side. Covers two major bye rounds, and can’t stop scoring. What’s not to like?

Zac Hosking
Covers two major bye rounds like Tapine, and looks to have the edge spot sewn up after Nicholson’s long term injury. Canberra are flying and like to get their edges involved in attack so could be in for attacking stats on top of already great base through his excellent work rate. Easy buy if you have someone in the back row that you are looking to sell.

Matt Burton
Assuming he has taken the goalkicking duties back from Stephen Crichton, I like Burton as a buy this week. Covers all 3 bye rounds, however he does have the bye in Rounds 13 & 16 so will be squad dependent whether you can make him work for your side.

Reuben Garrick
Manly still not looking great, however they play a Moses & Lomax-less Eels side in Round 15 and then a Titans side missing Fermor & Tino in Round 15. Basically the most ideal of ideal fixtures. Has bottomed out in price now it seems and should put up huge numbers just from goal kicking alone. Worth a buy.

Tom Trbojevic
Debated about putting him on this list for a long time. He just looks like he is still so hampered by injury, but at 530k and with the above mentioned fixtures, it might be worth the risk.

Hold

Nathan Cleary
Matchups against Parramatta and the Tigers will be painful to watch as a non-owner. Also unlikely to be rested after Origin, given Penrith’s position on the ladder. If you held last week, he is an easy hold now.

Robert Toia
Still has some cash to make thanks to the huge magic round score he put up against The Phins. After being a surprising selection for origin, he doesn’t cover Round 12 as we had planned, however he is worth a hold and then sale before his Round 14 bye.

Sandon Smith
Still think he has a low score in him, but its just so hard to get excited about making a trade at Hooker this season. I don’t mind the strategy of holding him all season with the new addition of the FLEX player, as the Hooker score will often be the one to drop out. Also don’t mind turning him into McInnes in Round 14, but worth a hold for this bye round.

Sell

Jacob Kiraz
Ruled out with injury for up to a month—an unfortunate and reluctant sell.

Dylan Egan
Out for the season with an ACL injury.

Angus Crichton
Misses 5 games across the Origin period which is too many to hold. Move onto a bye coverage option in the back row and reevaluate whether to bring him in post origin.

Naufahu Whyte
Misses the next 3 rounds, so worth upgrading to one of the many keeper options in the FRF position this year.

Bradman Best
Out with another hamstring injury which is set to keep him sidelined for 4-6 weeks. Move him on.
