Lets take a look at potential VC & C options for Round 14.
VC Options
Lehi Hopoate – Has again been named at fullback this week in the absence of Tom Trbojevic. Lehi has a 3RA of 98.7, with his most recent score of 107 vs the Broncos including 60 in base power. Elite stuff. Though the Knights don’t usually concede a lot of points to fullbacks, I think their opening run has been reasonably soft and am backing Manly to put points on in this one.
Ryan Papenhuyzen – Don’t want to straight captain this week, so taking advantage of the early round fixture. The Cowboys are the highest ranked side with a negative PD, indicating their defense is susceptible to leaking points. 3RA pf 93.3 & 5RA of 85.2 shows both he and the Melbourne Storm are putting points on.
Jahrome Hughes – A bit rich for my blood, but the stats show that the Cowboys concede more Supercoach points to halfbacks than any other team in the NRL.
C Options
Nathan Cleary – Up against the Wests Tigers who have one of the worst defenses in the league statistically. Cleary has found form of late and you can expect him to very involved. 3RA of 97.7 & 5RA of 92.6 shows what a safe option he is, so back him to go large against weaker opposition.
Payne Haas – Again, the safe option this week. The Titans concede more points to FRF than all NRL teams bar South Sydney. Averaging over 70 in base power alone, with a coefficient of variance of 26% (elite considering his lowest score is 51), Haas is safe as houses and you can take a score of 80 to the bank.
