Round 17 is here, so lets take a look at popular buys and sells across the Origin period.
Buy
Josiah Karapani
The most popular buy this week, and for good reason. Averaging 92.5 (in 2 games) with a BE of -85, he is projected to make $110,000 for owners this week. Added bonus, he also covers Round 18, then has some desirable fixtures against the Titans, Eels and Souths. My plan will be to bank some quick cash, then turn him into someone like Brian To’o post origin.
Latu Fainu
Looks to have decent base for a half, and I am backing him to keep the spot in the halves ongoing from here. Seems unlikely to gain dual status in the Round 18 update, however there aren’t too many standout 5/8s this year, so I would be tempted to downgrade here and spend cash elsewhere during the run home.
Briton Nikora
Not an ideal fixture this week, however Nikora has found some form, now boasting a 3RA of 92.7. I lean towards waiting til Round 19, however with a BE of -2, you might want to jump on early at his currently lower price of $606,800.
Viliame Kikau
Kikau has upped his base power, which has dramatically increased his scoring floor and therefore, his overall appeal. The Bulldogs are one of the best teams in the competition and have no more remaining byes to come, so barring injury will be a player in your 17 every week. I am interested.
Jacob Preston
Similar to Kikau, I like Jacob Preston for all the same reasons. Knows how to find the line, and has a great work ethic. One to consider.
Reuben Garrick
Garrick is quite cheap ($621,500) and is averaging 73.1 so is still an elite option in the CTW. Covers the last major bye round with Manly being full strength, however does miss Round 19. I have a sneaky suspicion the move to wing might help his scoring output. Here is hoping!
Daly Cherry-Evans
One for the POD seekers. Available at a low $459,600, averaging 60+, covers the last bye round and has fixtures against the Wests Tigers and Souths to come. Has been underwhelming of late, and will have a point to prove in order to finish his Manly career on a high. One to consider in your secondary halfback slot.
Hold
James Tedesco
The best fullback in Supercoach. Easy hold through their bye this week.
Sell
Fletcher Sharpe
Rumours he may not take the field again in 2025. Get well soon, Fletcher!
Siua Wong
Now has a knee injury, and can be upgraded to a keeper for the run home. Sell
