Jacob Kiraz – Kiraz returned in Round 5 and looked like he hadn’t missed any time out of the game, putting up a base power score of 62. If he manages to get some attacking stats to go with his elite base and offloading ability, he has the potential to go very large. Souths rank in the top 30% of all teams for conceding the most Supercoach points to CTW in 2025. For added bonus, he will up against Campbell Graham (not a noted winger) or Tass who can be suspect defensively.
Matt Burton – Souths concede more points to 5/8s than any other team in the competition. Burton will be a focal point in attack as always and only needs a few attacking stats to put up a great score due to his goal kicking. I prefer Kiraz slightly, but Burton is a decent option too!

Ryan Papenhuyzen – Papenhuyzen and the Melbourne Storm are on fire, so this is an obvious one. The Storm have a fantastic record at Suncorp and have a favourable fixture against the Dolphins this week. With a low score of 65, and 2 scores above 130 already in 2025, Papenhuyzen is the perfect balance between a safe floor and ability to explode. A great captains choice this week.
Nicho Hynes – The Knights look shocking and I can’t see them turning things around against the Sharks. I expect a convincing win and for Nicho to have a hand in plenty due to his ability to fill the stats sheet. I don’t think he will be a super popular option due to recent form, so is potentially a chance to fly up the rankings if you manage to nail this selection. With a low score of 38 and a high score of 115, Nicho should still be a consideration for captaincy.
Harry Grant – For the POD seekers out there. The Dolphins concede more points to Hookers than any other team. Melbourne are on fire and are playing at a ground where they have enjoyed plenty of success over the years – in both the club and origin arenas.
Terrell May – The safe option this week for those that are risk averse. All scores for May have been between 69-92. For the math enthusiasts among us, a good coefficient of variance is 20%. May’s is 11% – meaning his scores are very consistent. He also has a favourable fixture against the worst defensive team in the competition so far.

I like the Kiraz shout he could go huge verse the Bunnies!
